Fishing Owl

Product Description

The “wise old owl” as personified in countless children’s stories has inspired me on more than one occasion.  In this instance I selected the indigenous Pel’s Fishing Owl as a subject, specifically for its size.  This owl ranks as one of the largest owl species in the world and the male’s call can be heard from up to 3 km away.  Even so, it swoops down upon prey from its perch along river banks inaudibly.  My sculpture portrays an owl with its catch, proof that  silence, vigilance and stealth enables this nocturnal creature to be a efficient hunter.
