Product Description
Roses are associated with love, alluring flowers presenting their beauty in a profusion of sizes, hues and aroma. Artists have used this theme in song, paint and sculpting since times memorable. Inspired by the old masters my aim was to portray the timeless enchantment of fine art coupled with the everlasting theme of romance and love, a tribute to the women who have graced my life. New challenges were presented, this was my first work where micro chisels were extensively used but the finished sculpture is proof – stick at it and you can get it done. Whilst sculpting “To All The Girls I’ve Loved Before”, I tutored a group of students in the art of relief sculpting, their appreciation of my progress turned this into a special addition to my portfolio.
“There is nothing more difficult for a truly creative painter than to paint a rose, because before he can do so he has first to forget all the roses that were ever painted.” – Henry Matisse
